STARTING AT STULGINS IN VILLA PARK

The bar bike rally started many many years ago with a decision to do some good for the community. Yearly we meet at Stulgins in Villa Park on a Saturday morning typically in late September, and we ride our bicycles to various planned out bars along the beautiful Prairie Path with one common goal. TO RAISE MONEY FOR A LOCAL FAMILY IN NEED. It’s always a blast and it’s always nice to see a community come together to help one of their own.

We are the Imlah Family! And our story starts in May of 2020 when I, Dana, was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I had multiple enlarged lymph nodes in my neck and chest. We were told in December 2020 that it was gone (after undergoing 7 months of high dose Chemotherapy) but then in July of 2021 we realized that it had come back already. After more intense chemo for October, November and December, it was time to move into something more. In December 2021 I went into the hospital to undergo a autologous stem cell transplant (they take my cells out - kill my system with VERY HIGH DOSE chemotherapy in the hospital, and then when the immune system is down to nothing they restart it with my own stem cells). I was in the hospital for 3 weeks starting just after Christmas and then in a transitional housing facility for another 2 weeks. After coming home – I was unable to leave the house for another 2 months. I finally went back to work fulltime in the office in July - after being out since before Christmas. Jay - my husband - was at about half time work because he had to pick up all the slack with the kids while I was out - and then to stay home and care for me 24/7.
Our family – myself working for Head Start, Jay – cement truck driver for Ozinga and our 4 children – Kendra (15), Addison (9), and Jase and Jacob (8) have lived in the VP/Lombard area since 2016 and are looking forward to what the future might hold for us. This whole experience has taught us that tomorrow is never a guarantee and we need to give them everything we have and celebrate every moment together.
